50th Day of School - Monday, November 21

50th Day of School
Monday, November 21 marks the 50th day of school in 1st grade. We will celebrate this milestone by reading 50 words, writing 50 words, skip counting to 50 in various ways and compare what life was like in 1950 to today (how have toys changed, music changed, TV changed and cost of goods and services). We will also check in on our hopes and dreams as we are 50 days smarter.

Here is a sneak peak at looking at 1950 vs. 2011:
* Cost of average TV in 1950 was $250, cost of average TV today is $2,100
* Gallon of gas in 1950 was $0.25 cents, cost of gallon of gas today is $3.40
* Postage stamp in 1950 was $0.03, cost of a postage stamp today is $0.42
* Gallon of milk in 1950 was $0.82, cost of gallon of milk today is $3.10
