Homework - Chinese New Year Mask (due 1/20/12)

In the spirit of our celebration of Chinese New Year, we have a special, but hopefully not hard homework assignment for first graders!  On January 23rd all the first graders will be putting on a parade for the classrooms at Glendale.  One of the traditions of Chinese New Year is to wear a mask for the parade.  We are asking for your help in creating a mask at home with your child!  Please create this mask with your child as homework and return it to school on or before Friday, January 20, 2012.  Feel free to get creative and use feathers, sequence, beads, glitter, and anything that comes to the imagination. You may want to consider starting with a paper bag, cardboard or cereal box for the mask. Be creative! Below are some examples. Click on image to enlarge.
