In your child's binder today was a handout regarding homework for next week. Below are the directions:

1. This week, we read the book A Quiet Place by Douglas Wood. The book is about finding a spot where you can think, relax and unwind. As we introduce various components of our classroom, I like to have each child think of a quiet place where they like to go to think, relax and unwind. Please talk to your child about where their quiet place is at home. Then, please take a photo of your child in their quiet spot. This can be in a bedroom, under a tree, on a swing etc. Anywhere where your child feels calm and peaceful is a quiet place.
2. Secondly, next week we will start talking about the love of books. We are asking each parent to take a photo of their child reading in his/her favorite home reading spot. This can be again in their bedroom, a comfy chair, on the floor etc.
3. Finally, find a family picture (current or from previous vacation) that we can hang up all year. Ideally, 4x6 works best. If parents do not live in the same house, children can bring in 2 photos (one with each parent). We use the pictures throughout the year in Writer’s Workshop.
Please feel free to either print these photos in 4x6 or email me the photos and I will print them at school. Photos are due either in person or by email by Monday, September 12. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions.
