Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Message

In Social Studies this week, we have been studying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his message of peace. Students quickly pointed out how Dr. King's message resembles the Glendale core values of C.A.R.E.S. which is also what we base our classroom rules on.

* Cooperation
* Assertion
* Responsibility
* Empathy
* Self-Control

Each morning, we do one of the CARES pledges during morning meeting (we read each of the expectations under the C.A.R.E.S). Mondays we start with Cooperation and Fridays we end with Self-Control. We continually talk about CARES and how these are essential expectations at school. Like Dr. King's message, we work hard to treat others the way we would want to be treated.

Reminder - No School on Monday, January 21 in honor of Martin Luther King Day!
