Chinese New Year Lunch $3.00 1/30/12

As a part of an on-going multicultural awareness, we will be learning about Chinese traditions, listening to special stories, creating Chinese art work and discovering different foods that are apart of the Chinese culture.

On Monday, January 23rd we will be celebrating Chinese New Year by wearing our masks and parading through the building at 9:30 for all the grades to see. This is an annual tradition at Glendale that the first graders often look forward to.

On Monday, January 30th we will be having a special lunch for all first graders to celebrate Chinese New Year.  D’Fongs Chinese Restaurant will be catering a lunch for us at Glendale.  The menu will include the following items: Chicken Chow Mein, White Rice, Egg Roll and American Fortune Cookie.

They will also be giving us chop sticks, an astrology placemat, a good luck penny, and be performing a Lion Dance. The cost of this event will be $3.00 per student.  We are asking that all children pay even if they choose not to eat, as the $3.00 will help to cover the cost of all items.  Please do not send a check, cash only in a ziplock bag or envelope with your child's name. If your child would like a scholarship please let me know or if your family would like to provide a scholarship for someone else, please include a note with your child's money. The meal will be served around 11:30.  If you are interested in helping serve the meal please let me know. We will begin plating the food around 11:00-11:15. Currently I have Renee and Wendy helping. The money is due by Wednesday, January 25th. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me.
