Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Assignment - Homework

We have been talking about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. all week. We have focused on his message of kindness and love. We talked about the importance of treating the people around you with respect. To help further our discussion about such an important subject, I would like for students to complete a writing homework assignment. A hard copy was sent home on Friday in your child's binder. If you need another sheet, please see document below. We will use these writing pieces as our morning meeting sharing for the last week in January and the first week in February. I would like to have it returned by Thursday, January 26th

As your child is working on this writing assignment, encourage them to sound out the word using the sound they hear instead of focusing on book spelling. We are also focusing in writing our letters correctly on the handwriting lines. In the Curriculum tab above, you will find a document on how to form letters and common first grade sight words your child should know how to spell on their own. Feel free to use these with the writing assignment. Please let me know if you have any question.
